White Lilly- progress

Hi all!

I'm working on White Lilly, and wanted to share.

I've designed a special body pattern for her, to make her able to stand alone. To enhance it, I've stuffed her feet with a mix of salt and white glue. Than came sculpting- her face is clay over cloth. I've gessoed her, than painted with oil paints- a light wash on her body to accent the shadows, and give her antique look, than painted her features.

It took me some time to realize the kind of hair she was after, but it than became clear that human hair is the answer. now she has a soft, light brown hair, and I'm off to fashion a lilly white dress!

Joan Russel reproduction dolls- 100 Christmas gifts

Hi all!
I wanted to share- after a long period of hard work, I've finally finished making these little sweethearts.

A friend of mine, a lovely lady named Rhonda, asked me to make these dolls for her. She wanted exact reproductions to remind her of her childhood charm, and a doll her mom made her.

So I did my best, Finding the right fabrics was indid challenging, and the striped one was impossible to find, so I created it myself.
Here are the originals, and the ones I've created. What do you think?

Rose the Red and White Lilly

Good morning!

After a lot of cold days It's sunny and warm today. how fun.

I've found a charming scottish child ballad called "Rose the Red and White Lilly", and decided that it would be a great next doll project. I love ballads, and this one is a classical love story, with happy ending. It tells about two sisters who fall in love with their step brothers, but their evil step mother tries to seperate them.

"Rose the Red and White Lilly,

Their mother dear was dead,

And their father married an ill woman,

Wishd them twa little guede."

I will post some pictures of how I'm doing soon!

Hi! I'm so excited to be here!

For a very long time now I wanted to write a blog, sharing my doll creating thoughts and processes, and hearing from other nice people what they think, But I was a bit scared to do so, I guess.

Why? no good reason.

So I'm very happy to start my own blog and hope you will join me!
